  " I joined the PKA Kick Boxing around 18 months ago, originally attending class once a week. My main goals when i started were to get fit, earn a black belt (I felt this would be an achievement) and I also wanted a hobby. The club has a friendly and professional atmosphere and I have since enrolled my 9 year old daughter and we now both attend classes 2 and sometimes 3 times a week. I'm currently well on track with my goals, my fitness has dramatically improved and I'm getting closer to the black belt grade. As well as my original goals, I've since started sparring and squad sessions, which at an age of 40+ I hadn't considered when I joined. With 33 years between my daughter and me, your never to young or old to start."

Did I ever think that at 39 I would join a kickboxing class let alone work towards achieving belts? Absolutely not! But I did and I enjoy every minute of it. On joining I was made to feel very welcome, I didn’t feel intimidated at all, as we are all beginners. Our Instructor, Jackie, is fantastic. She made me feel relaxed from the moment I walked in. She makes the class fun, is patient and supportive. Jackie has a natural ability to get the best out of me and trains everyone to their full potential. Kickboxing is a great way to learn self defense, improve stamina and fitness levels. My only regret is that I didn’t take this up years ago!
